Great Wall Tours – Jinshanling and Huanghua

The Great Wall of China

Jinshanling

The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall is undeveloped and features 24 watch towers and rocky remains. You can start a 10 km hike from Jinshanling to the Simatai section of the Great Wall. The four hour hike is a little strenuous but offers visitors a chance to see collapsed sections of the China wall and some fantastic scenery.

Jinshanling Tours

Buses from Beijing to nearby Miyun, and then a minibus will get visitors close to Guneikou and Jinshanling. Private drivers can also be hired.

Huanghua

The Huanghua section  is for those looking for an interesting Great Wall experience. It is a well preserved example of the wall and classic Chinese defenses. High ramparts, beacon towers, steep climbs – Huanghua is for the adventurous. Parts of Huanghua have been restored but there are areas of crumbling rubble. From Huanghua you can hike to Mutianyu – the trip would take a few days – but be worth your efforts.

Huanghau Tours

Huanghua is 60 kilometers for Beijing and accessible by public bus or private tour from the city.
