Juyongguan is the closest tour site to Beijing. At 50 kilometers from the city, it’s easy to get to. The Great Wall at Juyongguan was built by the Ming Dynasty during the 5th century and has been restored. You can walk this wall section in about two hours.

Juyongguan Tours

Juyongguan is on the way to Badaling (same road). Many public and tour buses will stop at the site, if asked. Ask you travel agent or hotel for more information.

Simatai

For those looking for adventure and an exhilarating hike, Simatai is a recommended Great Wall tour spot. Simatai features yet-to-be restored sections of the China wall, with steep climbs and precarious drop offs. Watch towers and walls-within-walls – obstacles built to help defeat soldiers that got past the initial wall, are added attractions. Simatai also features a cable car for those looking for a more peaceful climb.

Simatai Tours

Simatai is 110 kilometers from Beijing. Public buses are available as are private tour buses.
