Singer Olivia Newton-John’s Great Wall of China walk was featured in a televised documentary October 4, 2009. Newton-John, a cancer survivor, led a group of celebrities and cancer survivors on a 23 day walk on the Great Wall.
“It was an incredible challenge……a real test of endurance, emotionally and physically,” Newton-John said. The one hour documentary included footage of Newton-John and her team pushed to their limits in body and spirit on the Great Wall of China.
Walking in Olivia Newton-John’s footsteps on the Great Wall of China, three Welsh women are undertaking a similar fund raising effort. Friends Paula Morris, Lowri Jones and Helen Griffiths are flying to Beijing for a 6-day, 100 kilometer hike, in an effort to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
“It’s nice that as well as doing something personally to help fight against this crippling disease, my workplace is so heavily involved in research into dementia as it’s such a good cause,” said Jones.
